'Sure Signs’ was founded by Hana Lindsay – a signwriter/sign painter, gold leaf gilder and lettering artist in Glasgow, Scotland.

Sure Signs specialises in hand painted interior and exterior signage, mural work, gold leaf house numbers/names and bespoke commissions for private clients. Hana’s own bold designs incorporate bright colours, three dimensional forms and clean lines to make lettering lively and accessible. She paints her own lettering design or provided artwork onto fascias, shop exteriors, interior/exterior walls, windows, vans, horse boxes, or even more obscure objects. 

While Hana was working in hospitality she was continually asked to do chalkboards and window displays as she had a keen eye for design and layout. This is where she found her love for hand lettering and design. She began participating in sign painting workshops across the country and was largely self taught until she took the opportunity to travel to Minnesota in the USA to work with celebrated sign painter and teacher Mike Meyer in 2019. She spent a month traveling across the United States, meeting many more painters and learning as much as she could. She returned to Glasgow to put her new skills to the test. 

After spending a few years working solo at Torrisdale Street Studios in the south side of Glasgow she met sign painter Rachel E Millar in 2021. She began working with Rachel as an informal apprentice and take on larger projects together. Hana and Rachel then founded sign painting collective ‘Bungo Sign Co.’ in 2022. In the summer of 2023, Hana and Rachel opened their first high street shop premise. The first of its kind in Scotland, and the only women owned in the UK. The shop is primarily used as a studio for the two to fabricate and paint signs, although they host workshops, talks and open days in the space. Hana continues to work as her own entity but also works alongside Rachel on larger projects as part of ‘Bungo Sign Co’.
